From Weakness to Strength: The Clear Choice on American Energy
The first two months of this administration has been a string of defining moments for the elected leaders and the future of American energy policy. President Trump has led with a vision for energy independence, economic strength, and national security. On the other side, many are clinging to the failed policies of the past that saw trillions of taxpayer funds wasted and handed to political friends and policies that would result in more global poverty and rolling blackouts.
As Texas Representative August Pfluger, the sponsor of the bill that will repeal Biden’s natural gas tax, has consistently argued, energy policy is about more than just affordable fuel prices, but also geopolitical strength, job creation, and economic security.
The Biden-Harris administration imposed burdensome regulations, were hostile toward domestic production, and deferred to foreign energy suppliers, leaving American families struggling with skyrocketing costs and unreliable supply. Even as Americans faced record-high gas prices, Democrats pushed policies that punished producers and weakened the nation’s energy backbone.
Then, in November, that vision for America was resoundingly defeated at the ballot box. Now, out of hatred toward Donald Trump, many on the left are leaving the concerns of real families in the dust to grandstand. Rep. August Pfluger and Rep. Michael Cloud wrote in The Washington Reporter:
“The contrast couldn’t be clearer. One party recognizes and celebrates American resilience, sacrifice, and courage while demanding accountability from our institutions. The other can’t even stand up for a child with cancer, a grieving family, an injured athlete, or a freed American teacher — and fights to preserve wasteful spending at every turn”
President Trump and leaders like Rep. Pfluger and Rep. Cloud are proving that American energy isn’t just a policy debate, it’s our foundation for prosperity. The past two months have been a course correction, undoing the failures of the Biden era and restoring America’s rightful place as the world’s energy superpower. Those still clinging to failed policies may grandstand, but the American people have already spoken: they want affordable energy, strong leadership, and a country that prioritizes its own future.
