Democrats Rediscover High Gas Prices. Now That They Can Blame Trump.

For years, the left treated high energy prices as the cost of doing business.

Under President Biden, Americans were told that climate action required sacrifice. Gas prices surged, federal oil and gas leasing was restricted, EV mandates were pushed, gas stove bans became serious policy, and the American people were expected to accept higher costs in the name of the green agenda.

Now, with instability in the Middle East putting pressure on global oil markets, the same Democrats who cheered costly climate policies are suddenly pretending to be champions of affordable energy.

Power The Future Founder and Executive Director Daniel Turner called out the hypocrisy in a new Fox News op-ed:

“But beware of those loud voices raising holy hell about a ‘problem’ they turned a blind eye to when it was in pursuit of their agenda. The green agenda made no sense then and doesn’t now. That’s a trade-off worth considering as the country elects its next generation of leaders.”

The point is simple: every policy choice has trade-offs. President Trump’s energy agenda was built around unleashing American production, lowering costs, and restoring energy dominance. The Biden-era climate agenda was built around restricting supply, forcing consumers into preferred technologies, and making traditional energy more expensive by design.

The difference matters.

When prices rose under Biden, Democrats called it sacrifice. When prices rise amid global instability, they call it Trump’s fault.

Americans deserve leaders who are honest about energy, not politicians who only care about prices when they think there is a political advantage. Affordable, reliable American energy is not optional. It is the foundation of a strong economy, a secure nation, and a better life for working families.

The green agenda failed that test before, and it fails it again now.
