This Fourth of July, Energy Independence Powers Our Freedom
A record number of Americans are hitting the road to enjoy the holiday this summer. According to AAA, 72.2 million people are expected to travel at least 50 miles from home this Fourth of July. That’s 1.7 million more travelers than last year, and 7 million more than pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Making this the busiest Fourth of July travel forecast ever recorded.
All that travel has one thing in common: energy. Thankfully, this year, energy is finally making a comeback for American families.
In a recent column for RealClearEnergy, PTF Communications Director Larry Behrens gave us all the reasons to be excited this Fourth of July,
“Gas is cheaper. Appliance tyranny is dead. Green grift is getting taxed. And a little common sense is finally clawing its way back into Washington, D.C. So, this 4th of July, as you hit the road, flip the burgers, and crank the AC, remember this: we’re proudly celebrating America’s independence— but we’re also reclaiming our own. From gas tanks to grill flames, freedom is back—and it runs on American energy.”
So, while we remember the patriots who secured our independence, let’s also take a moment to appreciate the American workers—rig hands, utility crews, engineers, truck drivers, and many more who help power our daily lives. Energy is more than a commodity; it’s the backbone of our economy, our mobility, and yes, even our holidays.
Happy Independence Day.
