New LNG Project Highlights Alaska’s Unmatched Energy Strength
A significant milestone for Alaska’s energy future was announced this week, as a major liquefied natural gas (LNG) project moves forward.
Fox News reports,
“Alaska LNG, a branch of the New York City and Anchorage-based Glenfarne energy company, and energy technology giant BakerHughes announced an alliance that will bring to reality and accelerate plans for a nearly 1,000-mile, 42-inch LNG pipeline down the middle of the Last Frontier, and a corresponding terminal on the Kenai peninsula. The 807-mile pipeline is projected to begin near Prudhoe Bay on the Arctic Ocean and run down to Nikiski – a village halfway between Anchorage and Homer.”
Energy Secretary Chris Wright said that Alaska LNG has the potential to become “one of the most significant energy infrastructure projects in our nation’s history.” The project will also include a North Slope carbon-capture facility, highlighting that Alaska can provide both energy and innovation.
