Speaking at the State Financial Officers Foundation conference in Orlando, Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum discussed the economic lifeblood that resource development represents for Alaska. “The vast majority of our state government funds come from mining and crude oil,” Crum told Fox News Digital. “It’s not just a source of revenue—it’s our way of life.”
Crum credited President Trump with setting the stage for this resurgence. He praised Trump’s policies that directly supported Alaskan interests, including prioritizing the Ambler Access Project, a 211-mile industrial road that opens access to copper, zinc, and other key minerals in the remote Brooks Range. The move, which reversed Biden-era restrictions, has opened doors for development in an area critical to U.S. mineral independence.
