Democrats Plan on Using Infrastructure to Push Their Green Agenda
The Biden Administration has made clear that it will take any and all executive action to implement an eco-left agenda. So far, this has largely taken place in the form of a seemingly endless slate of destructive Executive Orders. Now, Democrat lawmakers are planning on taking the same approach – using any means at their disposal to push green initiatives.
CNBC reports on Senator Ron Wyden’s (D-OR) plans for the upcoming infrastructure bill:
President Joe Biden’s coming infrastructure plan should dramatically reduce tax breaks for the energy industry and focus them on green initiatives, the chairman of a powerful Senate committee told CNBC.
Essentially, Wyden plans on replacing all existing tax breaks with just three: one for clean energy, one for clean transportation and fuel, and one for energy efficiency. Congressman Kevin Brady (R-TX), the top Republican of the tax-writing committee in the House, is warning Democrats that this type of change would only serve to undermine job creation – something that Americans cannot afford as we continue to recover from Covid-19.
“The energy sector targeted by Democrats is able to deduct investment costs similar to any other business — hardly ‘subsidies’ compared to the lucrative tax credits Democrats will offer to their hand-selected ‘green’ companies,” he told CNBC. “Americans deserve an all-of-the-above approach that means more jobs and affordable and reliable energy.”
Unfortunately, rather than acknowledging this potential harm or even focusing on the actual purpose of the legislation – infrastructure – Democrats will likely continue their tunnel-vision approach to enacting a radical climate agenda.
