Energy Champion of the Month: Rep. Harriet Hageman

Few leaders have stood up for American energy workers and consumers as consistently as Wyoming Congresswoman Harriet Hageman. That’s why Power The Future names her our Energy Champion of the Month.

Amid debates over domestic energy production, Rep. Hageman has advocated for continued and reliable energy policies. She emphasizes the importance of reliable, affordable energy for America’s stability.

In a recent op-ed, Rep. Hageman discussed the hypocrisy of the anti-energy movement. And the fact that those who claim to oppose fossil fuels still rely on them every day, even as they push policies designed to punish the very companies that keep the lights on.

Her Stop Climate Shakedown Act of 2026 would prohibit states and municipalities from pursuing lawsuits or “climate superfund” initiatives that penalize energy producers for past lawful activities. By halting these penalties, the legislation seeks to prevent increased costs for American families, preserve jobs, restore regulatory clarity, and ensure that national energy policy remains under federal authority rather than being shaped by activist-driven legal actions.

But her leadership doesn’t stop there.

Rep. Hageman is also fighting to remove unnecessary barriers to coal production in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin. By addressing outdated leasing rules and easing financial burdens on producers, she’s working to ensure that dependable baseload power remains part of America’s energy mix, even as demand surges.

This is what real leadership looks like.

While others push policies that restrict supply and drive up prices, Rep. Hageman is focused on solutions to strengthen America’s energy. She recognizes that energy security is national security.

For her leadership, actions, and results, Rep. Hageman is recognized as Energy Champion of the Month.
