Global Warming Now Comes With Late Fees, Says UN Court

Well, now it is official. The United Nations’ highest court has emerged from its Geneva conference room to declare that climate change is now a legal liability, and you’re the one who has to pay for it. In a Reuters report Wednesday:

“Failure to rein in fossil fuel production and subsidies could result in ‘full reparations to injured states in the form of restitution, compensation and satisfaction.’”

That’s right. If you drove a gas-powered truck in 2012, the Republic of Vanuatu would like a check. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) says wealthy nations must cut emissions or cough up “climate reparations.”

“Countries were also responsible for the actions of companies under their jurisdiction or control.”

Translation: If a power plant in Indiana burns natural gas to keep the lights on, the United States may owe Samoa an apology and some cash.

And the left is thrilled.

“I didn’t expect it to be this good,” said Vanuatu’s Climate Minister.

“This advisory opinion is a tool for climate justice. And boy, has the ICJ given us a strong tool,” said a law student activist.

Let’s take a step back. Energy bills are rising. The grid is teetering. American families are sweating through summer blackouts. And what’s the left focused on? Suing countries that haven’t bowed down to Greta and glued themselves to a solar panel.

This is what the climate cult does: manufacture moral outrage, invent legal theories, and use international courts to harass the people who keep the lights on. Because obviously, when global conflict is rising, what we really need is a stern lecture from the ICJ about how “your climate plan lacks ambition.”

Even the court’s own judge admitted this was more about vibes than facts:

“The human right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment is essential for the enjoyment of other human rights.”

Sure. And the right to reliable power and a functioning economy? Not mentioned.

Thankfully, President Trump had the right response:

“President Trump and the entire administration is committed to putting America first and prioritizing the interests of everyday Americans.”

At Power The Future, we applaud that. Because this climate court circus isn’t just unserious, it’s dangerous. It’s a waste of time, money, and credibility at a moment when the world could use a little more common sense and a little less performance art.

The good news? You don’t owe anyone climate reparations. The bad news? Somewhere, a UN intern is probably drafting the invoice anyway.
