NJ Gov.-Elect Mikie Sherrill Picks Disgraced Energy Secretary for Transition

New Jersey hasn’t even sworn in its new governor, and residents are already getting a preview of what “lower energy costs” will really mean under Mikie Sherrill. Hint: not lower.

Sherrill has asked Jennifer Granholm to head her transition team. Yes, that Granholm: the Biden administration’s key figure in rising gas prices, delayed energy projects, and a green agenda fueled more by wishful thinking than reality.

If New Jersey ratepayers were hoping for relief, this is the opposite. It is a huge warning sign.

“Thankfully, America liberated itself from the energy ignorance and failed ideological malfeasance of Jennifer Granholm last year,” said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future. “You don’t run on a platform to lower prices then turn to one of the architects of the highest energy prices in history. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of New Jersey who will now be the isolated victims of her flippant failure.”

Granholm’s Record of Failure Includes:

  • Laughing off America’s energy crisis—Granholm openly laughed when asked about boosting oil production—even as gas prices hit historic highs and families struggled.
  • Pausing American Natural Gas—Presiding over a “temporary suspension” of liquefied natural gas (LNG) project approvals
  • A taxpayer-funded EV stunt that backfired—A House investigation found her 2023 EV road trip was so poorly executed that staff had to use a gas-powered vehicle to block charging stations—prompting involvement from local law enforcement.
  • Praising California’s costly energy model—Granholm routinely held up California—home of the nation’s highest gas prices—as the blueprint for America.
