OPEC’s Production Hike Proves Why America Must Lead on Energy
OPEC’s decision to increase oil production by over 400,000 barrels per day is more than just a supply adjustment, but a calculated move to undermine U.S. energy independence and manipulate global markets to weaken American producers.
As Power The Future said in a statement, this is exactly why the U.S. cannot afford to rely on hostile or self-interested foreign powers for something as critical as energy.
“This move by OPEC is proof they fear President Trump’s American energy dominance agenda,” said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future. “Having grown accustomed to capitulation and weakness, OPEC has a clear goal: manipulate the markets financially to weaken American producers, making domestic drilling unprofitable, and keep us dependent on them.”
OPEC has played this game before. In 2022, while Americans were facing record-high gas prices, the Biden administration was caught secretly asking OPEC to delay production cuts until after the midterm elections, a political calculation that put party ahead of the people, as PTF Executive Director Daniel Turner wrote about in the New York Post.
That kind of weakness is gone.
With President Trump back in the White House, America is done playing defense. Energy dominance means putting our workers, our economy, and our national security first. OPEC’s actions only reinforce what we already know: The future belongs to nations that control their own energy destiny.
It’s time to double down on domestic production, pipeline infrastructure, and energy exports, not shrink in the face of foreign manipulation. OPEC can pump all it wants. America will lead.
