PTF Applauds One Big Beautiful Bill Gutting Green Grift
For years, Washington’s obsession with green subsidies has fueled a taxpayer-funded feeding frenzy. Billions have been funneled to politically connected industries under the guise of “saving the planet,” while hardworking Americans have footed the bill in the form of higher energy prices, more expensive cars, and a grid pushed to its limits. Last week, Congress finally hit the brakes.
The bill, when signed by President Trump, will terminate ten major clean energy tax credits and subsidies. This is more than just good policy; it’s long-overdue common sense.
Here are ten taxpayer-funded grifts being eliminated:
- Used EV subsidies (Sec. 25E)? Gone.
- New EV tax credits (Sec. 30D)? Gone.
- Commercial EV giveaways (Sec. 45W)? Gone.
- Alt-fuel refueling infrastructure credits (Sec. 30C)? Gone.
- Energy-efficient home improvement subsidies (Sec. 25C)? Gone.
- Residential solar and wind handouts (Sec. 25D)? Gone.
- Energy-efficient building deductions (Sec. 179D)? Gone.
- Subsidies for new “green” homes (Sec. 45L)? Gone.
- Clean hydrogen credits (Sec. 45V)? Gone.
- Sustainable aviation fuel boondoggles (Sec. 6426(k))? Gone.
And in a long-overdue move, the bill also phases out broader wind and solar tax credits (Sec. 45Y and Sec. 48E) after 2027, a quiet acknowledgment that these sources should not be dependent on the American taxpayer.
Power The Future: “We Told You So”
At Power The Future, we’ve said it for years: the green agenda isn’t about the environment- it’s about enriching a political class that bets big on taxpayer subsidies and then cries foul when the free market doesn’t cooperate. These tax credits propped up failing business models, drove up the cost of energy, and distorted market signals for over a decade.
We’re thrilled to see Congress finally recognize what we’ve documented in report after report: this system was unsustainable.
Now, the focus can return to what works- American energy. Fossil fuels built our economy. They’re affordable, reliable, and domestically abundant. It’s time we stopped punishing them in favor of virtue-signaling startups that can’t stand on their own two feet.
President Trump said it best: No more government picking winners and losers. Let energy compete, and may the best source win.
This bill is a major win for American energy workers.
