Standing Up to the Radical Environmental Agenda? The Eco-Left Can’t Stand to Hear It in New Mexico.

February 12, 2020

There are two bills languishing in the New Mexico capitol building that aim to fight back against the radical eco-left…and they can’t get a single hearing. The first bill would simply modify New Mexico’s version of the Green New Deal to keep electricity rates from skyrocketing. In a state where many working families struggle to make ends meet, you would think protecting them against higher electric bills would be worthy of lawmakers’ time. However, it goes against the eco-left’s agenda that forces New Mexicans to pay for more expensive energy, so the bill hasn’t received a single hearing. Next is…

New Mexico’s Oil Production Is Soaring

February 10, 2020

In New Mexico, the energy industry provides over 100,000 jobs and provides a critical service to communities across the entire country. Despite its importance to both the nation and New Mexico, Governor Grisham seems intent on putting an end to the industry. Power The Future recently noted that Grisham supported the Energy Transition Act, legislation that aggressively limits the oil and gas industry, and then traveled to New York City to participate in a climate change panel. It’s no surprise that New Mexicans haven’t responded positively – Grisham’s approval rating has dropped nine points in the past few months. Thankfully,…

Awkward Alliance: Would New Mexico Governor Support Candidate’s Fracking Ban?

February 10, 2020

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has said she will “robustly” support the Democratic nominee for President. One question: how can she do that given their position on energy? As voters get ready to cast their ballots in New Hampshire, there is no doubt the Democratic Presidential race will have a major impact on New Mexico. Will the Democratic Party nominate a candidate who wants to ban fracking? Some of the frontrunners for the nomination, including Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have already stated they plan to outright ban fracking if elected. Other candidates like Joe Biden and Michael Bloomberg…

State Energy Secretary: Oil And Gas Production A “Problem” For New Mexico

February 7, 2020

It’s a case of one New Mexico eco-left official getting caught being honest. In notes uncovered by Real Clear Energy, New Mexico’s Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Secretary Sarah Propst seemed to regret the impact of oil and natural gas in New Mexico. In private notes, she wrote, “problem is oil production in Permian [is] 1.5b/month in commerce, 400% ↑ in production.” The notes were taken during an exclusive Rockefeller Brothers Foundation meeting in July of last year. It’s unclear why the secretary feels an industry that employs over 100,000 New Mexicans and contributes nearly 40 percent of the entire…

Is Radical Green Agenda the Reason for New Mexico Governor’s Low Approval?

February 3, 2020

The reason you won’t hear New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham bragging about her approval numbers is likely because they’re not something the administration wants to highlight. According to Morning Consult, Governor Lujan Grisham ended 2019 with an approval rating of 44 percent. The end-of-the-year approval ratings are only part of the problem for Governor Lujan. A poll conducted by Emerson College in early January 2020 put Lujan Grisham’s approval at a dismal 38 percent.  In fact, when you look at Governor Lujan Grisham’s approval over the last four months, you see a drastic 9-point drop. The question many are…

It Begins: Electric Rates Will Go Up Due to New Mexico’s Green New Deal

January 30, 2020

No wonder supporters of New Mexico’s Green New Deal want to reshape the Public Regulation Commission (PRC.) It appears that when the PRC does its job, the truth comes out and supporters of New Mexico’s Green New Deal can’t handle it. Buried in this article discussing the New Mexico Supreme Court’s decision to bypass the PRC, was an admission about increased electric rates due to New Mexico’s Energy Transition Act. According to the article a witness for PNM, the largest utility in the state, told the PRC: “…Vice President and Corporate Controller Henry Monroy, even acknowledged costs associated with transitioning…

Why Are Eco-Left Groups In Charge At the City of Albuquerque?

January 23, 2020

It all started with a simple question to the City of Albuquerque about their failed renewable standards. We sent an email to [email protected] to ask our question. So, why did the response come from the  Natural Resources Defense Council? How is it that a special interest green group like the NRDC is responding to taxpayers on behalf of the City of Albuquerque? Let’s put aside for a moment that someone working for the City of Albuquerque lists their contact number with a New York City area code. The larger question here is how a special interest group is so brazenly…

Another Day, Another Radical Proposal

January 22, 2020

Once again, the eco-left is prioritizing a radical political statement over the facts and real economic impact. For the second year in a row, a proposal was introduced in New Mexico that would establish a four-year ban on new fracking permits because of erroneous environmental concerns.   Heartland Institute reports: Unfortunately, fracking has been maligned because of numerous false claims spouted by fracking opponents, including that the process pollutes the air and water. However, despite fear-mongering to the contrary, there is no evidence that seepage of fracking fluids, oil, or natural gas from fracking wells contaminate water sources.  There is plenty of…

Youth in Guillotines: New Mexico Eco-Left Goes Full Irrational on Day One

January 22, 2020

Give the eco-left a little credit, they certainly don’t waste time. In an effort to see who can come up with the most irrationally unnerving public display, New Mexico’s eco-left decided putting youth in guillotines is the right way to go. Their display was front and center on the first day of New Mexico’s annual Legislative Session. While the eco-left is well known for their unhinged and upsetting displays, this is a new step for New Mexico. It seems simply stealing campaign signs isn’t enough anymore.
