President Biden Visits New Mexico to Boast Failed Clean Energy Policies

August 9, 2023

President Biden will spend the day traveling around New Mexico to try and sell that green energy is working. This visit comes at a time when families in New Mexico are paying more for gas, and many are struggling to pay their energy bills, all driven by the loss of American energy independence due to the eco-left’s clean energy policies. And now the President will fundraise and strut around town bragging about those same policies.  Power The Future Communications Director Larry Behrens discusses Biden’s visit to New Mexico, “No doubt President Biden will be guided from one carefully-scripted event to another,…

Renewable Energy Fails New Mexico as Temperatures Rise

July 20, 2023

As the summer heats up, we see just how short renewable energy sources are coming up. Yesterday’s temperatures in the Albuquerque area reached over 100 degrees. And what were New Mexicans relying on to keep them cool and their appliances running? Fossil fuels.  At 4:34pm local time on Wednesday, the official temperature in Albuquerque was 101 degrees, yet the amount of renewable energy was a mere 7 percent. Without energy sources such as coal and natural gas, New Mexico’s families would be forced to endure the heat without electricity. “The fact that renewables fail when they are needed the most…

Lujan Grisham Administration Should Abandon EV Hypocrisy

July 11, 2023

Last week, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced a new mandate requiring electric vehicles to make up 43% of cars for sale in New Mexico within four years. Currently, electric vehicles make up less than 1% of cars. KOAT Action News reports,   “According to data KOAT received from the Taxation and Revenue Department, 0.8% of all vehicles in our state are electric as of May 31.” Not to mention the fact that electric vehicles cost more than the average New Mexican’s yearly salary.  “According to Kelly Bluebook, the average price of a new electric vehicle is about $60,000. The Bureau of Labor…

Entire NM Delegation Supports Biden Administration Attack on Gas Stoves

June 15, 2023

This week every member of the New Mexico Congressional delegation voted in favor of new legislation that will allow the Biden Administration to continue to push onerous rules against gas stoves—continuing their ruthless attack on the energy industry along with the personal lives of so many Americans. Despite the Biden Administration’s ongoing opposition to gas stove use in the United States, the “Save Our Gas Stoves Act” received extensive bipartisan support, with 29 house democrats supporting the legislation, ultimately leading to the bill easily passing the chamber with 249 votes. This indicates that many of our country’s top lawmakers oppose…

Governor Lujan Grisham Celebrates U.S. Climate Alliance Appointment

May 8, 2023

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is celebrating her latest appointment with the U.S. Climate Alliance today. The Governor will serve as co-chair elect for the organization.  They say to be careful of the company you keep, and the company in the U.S Climate Alliance includes New York Governor Kathy Hochul, who recently signed a law banning gas stoves in new homes. The appointments occur as a recently released poll found both Lujan Grisham and Hochul among the ten least popular governors in the nation. New Mexico deserves a governor who has the state’s best interest and constituents in mind. But, instead, Governor Grisham…

New Mexico Senators Must Support Bipartisan Lower Energy Costs Act

April 7, 2023

Last week H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, passed the House and now sits in the Senate, where New Mexico Senators Martin Heinrich (D) and Ben Ray Luján (D) have been awfully quiet.  The Lower Energy Costs Act aims to reduce energy costs for consumers across the United States. The bill received support from both Republicans and Democrats, making it a rare bipartisan effort to address the rising costs of energy. Power The Future Communications Director Larry Behrens weighs in on the Senators silence,  “The bipartisan Lower Energy Costs Act is critical for a state like New Mexico that…

New Mexico Governor Actively Hiding Her Gas Price Increase Bill

March 1, 2023

Governor Lujan Grisham (D-NM) is refusing to disclose a public document surrounding her proposal to raise fuel prices across the state. On February 7, Power The Future sent an official request to the New Mexico Environment Department for communications that discuss the so-called “Clean Fuel Standard.” Soon after, House Bill 426, the “Clean Fuel Standards” bill, was introduced in the Legislature. It took over two weeks to receive a response from the Environment Department, and the letter contained a whole lot of nothing. The letter explained that Governor Lujan Grisham is using Executive Privilege to keep it secret. “This bill will…

New Mexico Bill Would Raise Gas Prices

February 15, 2023

Legislators in New Mexico are racing to introduce bills as the deadline is fast approaching. Yesterday, a bill was introduced that would raise gasoline prices across the state. House Bill 426 echoes last year’s “Clean Fuel Standard Act,” which has failed to pass in recent legislative sessions.  The harm this bill can cause is highlighted by three other states that have passed similar laws: California, Oregon and Washington. Families in those states currently pay an average of $4.20 per gallon, nearly 80 cents more than the national average. “New Mexico’s families are already suffering under government energy failures, and now supporters of…

New Mexico Senate Bill Would Use Tax Dollars for Electric Bikes

February 9, 2023

This week  Senate Bill 343 was introduced in the New Mexico state legislature. The bill would take $6 million in tax dollars and provide a $1,200 rebate for a new electric bike and helmet. One of the sponsors of the bill has tried to ban fracking in the past. An industry that provides New Mexico with around $2 billion in direct revenue each year.  “It’s incredible to witness one of the same legislators who sponsored a ban on fracking now trying to use money from the energy industry to give away millions for e-bikes,” said Larry Behrens, Communications Director for Power The…

New Mexico Residents Notice 150% Increase In Utility Bills

February 3, 2023

The residents of a small town in New Mexico are facing a large problem. Deming, NM has a population of around 15,000, according to the 2020 census. Currently, all residents and businesses feel the effects of a significant increase in the cost of natural gas.  KOAT News reports,  “At this month’s Deming City Council meeting, those in attendance were informed of the increase coming. Deming City Administrator Aaron Sera said per-unit utilities costs went up from $1.30 to $3.30. The monthly utility bills sent to KOAT ranged from $650 to $800. That’s an 153.8% increase from rates there in December, just…
