The “Autopen” Scandal: Who Really Signed Biden’s Energy Orders?
This week, PTF formally called on the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate whether key energy executive orders, including the liquefied natural gas (LNG) export pause, were actually signed by former President Biden or simply enacted by his staff without his knowledge.
The concerns are bolstered from House Speaker Mike Johnson’s bombshell revelation that Biden was allegedly unaware of the LNG export moratorium imposed by his own administration. Further reports indicate that the real mastermind behind the policy may have been former White House Climate Czar John Podesta, raising major ethical and constitutional concerns.
As Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director of Power The Future, put it:
“Americans deserve to know if these failed energy decisions were truly made by Joe Biden, or if they were signed off by unaccountable bureaucrats operating in the shadows. If these policies were ‘signed’ and enforced without President Biden’s knowledge, we have a constitutional crisis on our hands.”
A Threat to Energy Security and the Rule of Law
If Biden’s energy policies were put in place without his direct authorization, it’s more than just a bureaucratic blunder: it’s a constitutional crisis. The LNG export pause and other anti-energy policies crippled America’s energy sector, raised costs on working families, and handed the keys of global energy markets over to foreign competitors like China and Russia as well as Middle Eastern energy powerhouses.
PTF’s letter to the DOJ demands answers:
- Were these executive actions truly authorized by Biden?
- If not, who was behind them?
- Will the DOJ hold these bad actors accountable?
- Are they valid?
Time for Accountability
