Trump Administration Invests in Alaska
Vice President JD Vance announced $150 million in Defense Production Act (DPA) funding for the Beluga-Healy Transmission Project. Creating a second high-voltage connection between Southcentral and Interior Alaska. The project will help develop more than 200 miles of new transmission infrastructure, with officials saying it will strengthen reliability and help lower energy costs for roughly 75 percent of Alaska’s population.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright said the new transmission infrastructure will support the U.S. military expansion underway in Alaska, as well as mining and other resource development important to national security.
