Trump Administration Puts Imported Wind Turbines Under the Microscope, And It’s About Time
For years, the green lobby and their pals in Washington have told us that wind and solar are the “future.” What they don’t tell you is that much of this so-called “future” is built with Chinese parts, Chinese minerals, and Chinese technology, and now, we’re finding out it could also be a national security threat, according to a new Daily Caller report.
On Thursday, the Trump administration announced a formal Section 232 national security probe into imported wind turbines, their parts, and foreign-built components. Translation: Washington is finally asking the question that should have been asked a decade ago: why are we outsourcing our energy grid to our adversaries?
The risk is real. The Department of Commerce laid it out clearly. This isn’t just about economics. It’s about:
- Whether foreign-built turbines could be weaponized to disrupt our grid.
- How dependent U.S. wind developers are on foreign supply chains.
- Whether tariffs or quotas are needed to protect American national security.
And if you think that sounds alarmist, remember: rogue communication devices were already found embedded in Chinese solar panels, devices that, according to Reuters, could trigger blackouts remotely. As one source put it:
“That effectively means there is a built-in way to physically destroy the grid.”
Wind turbines and solar panels rely heavily on rare earth minerals and other critical materials, resources that China dominates in mining and refining. The U.S. currently relies on imports for about 80% of the rare earth metals we use, and most of that comes straight from Beijing.
So when Biden shoved billions of taxpayer dollars into green subsidies, he wasn’t just funding “clean energy.” He was bankrolling China’s dominance over our grid, while leaving America exposed to vulnerabilities we don’t even fully understand.
President Trump made energy security a Day One priority, declaring a national energy emergency and moving swiftly to restore reliability with coal, nuclear, and American natural gas. Now, by scrutinizing imported turbines, his administration is making sure foreign powers can’t sneak a back door into our energy infrastructure.
This investigation is exactly the kind of America First leadership our workers, our families, and our future depend on.
Because here’s the bottom line:
- A wind turbine that runs on Chinese parts isn’t “clean energy.”
- It’s a Trojan horse.
- And if the left had their way, they’d cover our landscape with them while we hand the keys to our grid straight to the Chinese Communist Party.
Thankfully, this administration is putting American energy, American security, and American workers first.
