While New Mexico Struggles, Governor Grisham Jets Off Again
As the federal government shutdown continues to affect families in New Mexico, especially the more than one in five who depend on SNAP benefits, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is packing her bags once again. Instead of supporting struggling residents, she’s headed to Brazil for yet another COP conference.
If this sounds familiar, it’s because it is. The Governor has developed a habit of globe-trotting for climate summits, previously flying to Egypt, Scotland, and Dubai.
“Governor Lujan Grisham’s hypocrisy continues to be staggering, but not at all surprising,” said Larry Behrens, Communications Director for Power The Future. “She pretends to care about families impacted by the shutdown, but instead of staying home to stand with them, she’s boarding another free flight to lecture us. Her phoniness is clear: she takes credit for using oil and gas dollars to boost SNAP, then jets off to scheme about ways to kill the industry.”
New Mexico’s families deserve leadership that prioritizes them, not just another photo op halfway across the world.
