Despite screams for the eco-left, New Mexico’s energy workers are on pace to smash oil production records for the third year in a row. According to the Albuquerque Journal, New Mexico could produce more than 300 million barrels of oil by the end of 2019. That would smash the previous record of 249 million set in 2018, which beat the 2017 record of 173 million. The higher production also means record revenue for the state. According to the article, New Mexico has brought in a budget surplus of one billion dollars for over 2 years in a row. Such unprecedented…

Power The Future has launched EnergyTransitionTruth.Com to let leaders know New Mexicans don’t like the “mini” Green New Deal. In New Mexico, the law is called the Energy Transition Act or ETA and it forces green energy standards upon New Mexicans in the years and decades ahead. Keeping in mind, New Mexico is a national leader in oil and natural gas production and the energy industry is responsible for over 90,000 jobs and billions in revenue across the state. Despite these facts, radical environmentalists wielded insider access to write the ETA and passed it through the state Legislature. Now, Power…

Democratic presidential frontrunners are taking a strong stance against drilling – especially on federal lands. But unfortunately for Democratic leaders in states like New Mexico and Colorado, the presidential candidates fail to acknowledge all the benefits drilling has for their constituents, specifically investments in their school systems. For example, in New Mexico, more than 40 percent of oil and gas revenue goes to public schools. Reuters reports: “More than $1 billion of the state’s $2.4 billion in oil-and-gas revenue goes to public schools, according to the nonprofit New Mexico Tax Research Institute. Expecting another windfall this year, state lawmakers approved…

New Mexicans who work hard in our energy industry are making national news as they stand up against the eco-left in Santa Fe. A Sunday story in the New York Times highlighted energy workers who took a moment to talk about their frustrations with radical environmental policies that kill their jobs. Their feelings more than highlight the hypocrisy on display in Santa Fe, including: “They love the money from our oil up in Santa Fe. But they treat us like dirt.” “We’re a pillar of the economy, we’re thriving, so it’s hard to understand why they’re going after us.” “We’re humming…

If you’re looking for a great example of the hypocrisy and arrogance of the radical green movement in New Mexico and across the country, you’ve come to the right place. It all starts with a conference put on by the U.S. Climate Alliance last month. This exclusive conference was held in Lake Tahoe and only government officials from participating states, including New Mexico, were invited. Of course, we are asked to ignore the hypocrisy of the amount fossil fuels needed to deliver dozens of bureaucrats to Nevada so they can discuss killing jobs in the energy sector. Emails obtained by…

It’s one of those rare moments where we get to see the New Mexico Governor’s office being honest about their environmental agenda. Not too long ago, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham unilaterally decided to lead the state down the road to arbitrary car standards. Putting aside the fact she doesn’t live up to those standards herself, the move was blasted by business leaders simply on the merits. The move garnered no shortage of media attention including a question from the Associated Press which simply asked: Aren’t these essentially the California standards? Emails obtained by Power The Future show the…

Who does New Mexico’s Secretary of Energy work for? According to the website of the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) Sarah Cottrell Propst is the Secretary who leads the department and is appointed by the Governor. According to the same bio, Secretary Propst “served as the Executive Director of the Interwest Energy Alliance, a non-profit trade association that represents the nation’s leading companies in the renewable energy industry.” So why is Secretary Propst still listed as an “Executive Director” in campaign finance reports? According to a campaign donation disclosure posted yesterday, Propst donated $1,000 to her boss earlier…

New Mexico’s largest electric utility, the Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) went out of their way to chastise us over our efforts to expose the truth behind their support of New Mexico’s Energy Transition Act. Called the “mini Green New Deal,” the Energy Transition Act (ETA) was quickly forced through the legislature with radical environmental groups and PNM working behind the scenes to make sure the controversial law had everything they wanted. The ETA forces New Mexicans onto a renewable path no matter how high the cost of electric bills or how many people lose their jobs. We…
