Native American Homes Without Heat This Winter – Eco-Left Is AWOL

January 14, 2020

The Kayenta coal mine closure is leaving behind devastating impacts for Native American families including going without heat during the winter. The response from the eco-left? Nothing. This heartbreaking report tells how Native American families are fighting to stay warm after their supply of coal was cut off. Here are just a few examples of the hardships being endured: “There are people that are living with extreme housing disparities, with major holes in their roofs, with cardboard windows,  that… are at a real risk for freezing to death.” “I’m having to get up twice a night to check the fire,…

New Mexico Plant Closure Will Leave School District Looking for $37 Million

January 13, 2020

When the local power plant closes because of the eco-left, there’s the lost jobs, higher electric bills and loss of revenue to city coffers. However, the closure of one New Mexico power plant will have another victim: local classrooms. The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission held a hearing on the impact of the closure of the San Juan Generating Station in northwest New Mexico last week. According to the Navajo Times, the closure of the plant and its mine will leave a $37 million shortfall in the budget of the local school district. In other words, the actions of New…

Welcome to 2020: Albuquerque is Already Behind on It’s Green Goals

January 9, 2020

Meeting arbitrary renewable standards continues to fail around the world, and Albuquerque is no exception. When Duke City signed on to Mayor Bloomberg’s American Cities Climate Challenge, they signed on to certain goals with deadlines. However, it looks like Albuquerque’s green dreams are a green mirage. In a presentation obtained through a public records request, the city outlined one of their goals was to meet 58% of municipal electricity demand by 2020. We emailed the city to find out if they met the goal. Spoiler: they did not. Their response? They have installed and planned solar for city buildings that…

Is a Carbon Tax on the Agenda For New Mexico?

January 7, 2020

An environmental organization’s profile of New Mexico says a “transportation sector carbon fee” is being looked at for New Mexico’s upcoming legislative session. According to the group Climate Xchange, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is a leader in the climate change movement and members of her administration will participate in a webinar for the group. If you examine New Mexico’s profile on the group’s website, it notes “advocates are also looking at a transportation-sector carbon fee for the 2020 legislative session.” New Mexico is set to enjoy a massive budget surplus for the second year in a row thanks to the…

Why aren’t the Roundhouse and the Governor’s Mansion 100% renewable?

January 2, 2020

New year, same hypocrisy. Over the New Year’s Holiday, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s administration went out of their way to talk about how they’re going to examine energy efficiency when they want to rent space. It’s all a part of the administration’s efforts to address climate change but it appears they aren’t concerned with their own space. If you take a look around the New Mexico Capitol Building and the Governor’s Mansion, you’ll notice the lack of solar panels or wind turbines. Apparently, addressing climate change is the most urgent matter of our time, unless it’s about where our leaders…

VIDEO – Man Steals Campaign Signs – Blames Power The Future

December 24, 2019

We didn’t know we wielded so much power! Nonetheless, this must-see video shows a man confessing to stealing campaign signs in Albuquerque. Why? He says Power The Future made him do it! Earlier this month, Albuquerque held a run-off election for a City Council position. On Election Day, workers for one of the campaigns allege they caught the man on video stealing the signs of one of the candidates. Local media picked up the story, but those same campaign workers also sent us the video where he took the opportunity to go after Power The Future. The video yields a…

Radical Eco-Left Playing Projection Game on Methane

December 19, 2019

The eco-left’s questionable relationship with the facts continues. After a weekend story where we uncovered the Michelle Lujan Grisham administration admitting natural sources contribute to methane in New Mexico, the eco-left predictably got upset. Here’s a small sample: Why are they so upset with Power The Future? Simple: the truth is politically inconvenient for them. The eco-left is outraged at the story because it’s their political ally who is admitting, albeit behind the scenes, that they don’t know the extent of naturally occurring methane’s impact on the Four Corners Hotspot. If our friends in the radical environment community are upset…

Senator: New Mexico’s Energy Transition Act Will “Kill More Jobs” Than Anything Else

December 18, 2019

The more New Mexico’s elected leaders learn about the controversial Energy Transition Act, the more the anxiety grows about the impact ahead. The Energy Transition Act, or ETA, was rushed through the Legislature and signed into law earlier this year with green groups having insider access. Now less than a year later, elected leaders who supported and opposed the law are raising questions. Senator George Munoz, a Democrat from Gallup voted against the ETA and his reason is clear: “Believe it or not the Energy Transition Act will probably kill more jobs in the State of New Mexico than anything…
