New Mexico Governor’s New Electric Fire Truck Relies on Diesel

May 16, 2024

Last week, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham proudly announced the purchase of a new $1.8 million electric fire truck. The problem is that this million-dollar firetruck is equipped with a diesel engine for times when the electric batteries run out. Conveniently, the fossil fuel engine was overlooked in the Governor’s press release celebrating the “zero emission” vehicle. The Center Square reports, “The New Mexico Environment Department provided Bernalillo County Fire & Rescue with $417,718 worth of taxpayer funding to help pay for $1,829,973 in project costs to replace a 1991 Engine Model Year diesel-fueled Class 8, Pierce Dash fire engine……

New Mexico Governor Signs Off on Higher Gas Prices

March 5, 2024

Today, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) signed into law new fuel standards that will increase the price of gasoline. By signing the so-called “Clean Transportation Fuel Standards” bill, Governor Lujan Grisham is forcing New Mexico to join only three other states in enacting this expensive standard. There is a reason only three other states have signed this bill into law. It will raise gasoline prices, and New Mexico families will pay the price. Pinon Post reports, “The bill will increase gas prices by at least 50 cents per gallon, and you can expect similar increases in groceries and supplies and pretty much everything…

New Mexico EV Dead Zone Making Tow Companies Richer

February 16, 2024

The eco-left is trying to force electric vehicles (EVs) onto every household across the United States. But as many find out the hard way, if the government endorses it and gives out substantial tax rebates for a product, it is probably not the most reliable. But one line of business in a New Mexico town is profiting off the unreliability and lack of infrastructure to support EVs: tow truck companies. New Mexico KOAT investigates, “As the government is handing out tax rebates, and lawmakers are debating new laws to encourage the public to buy electric vehicles there are some businesses that are…

PTF Poll: President Biden’s Support Fading in New Mexico

January 25, 2024

According to our new poll, after winning New Mexico by 10 points in 2020, President Joe Biden is now 16 points underwater. Conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, the poll is composed of a survey of 500 registered/likely voters in New Mexico. Support for Biden’s approval stands at a dismal 41-57, including a 63 percent disapproval among Hispanic voters.  New Mexico has the highest percentage of Hispanic voters in the country.  As the nation’s second-largest oil producer, New Mexicans overwhelmingly (55 percent) believe oil and natural gas are the most important industries to the state. At the same time, 59 percent…

Governor Grisham Praises New Clean Car Tax Credit

January 24, 2024

This week in New Mexico, the state House Energy Environment and Natural Resources Committee recommended passage of House Bill 140, the Clean Car Income Tax Credit. The governor’s office put out a press release soon after the passage praising the bill, “The bill would create new temporary income tax credits for electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and other zero-emission vehicles. The bill also proposes tax credits for home and commercial electric vehicle chargers…‘“We know there’s consumer demand for these vehicles, and our complementary Clean Car Rules and these tax credits ensure these vehicles are more affordable and accessible to every New…

House Committee Expands Deb Haaland Investigation

November 3, 2023

Yesterday, the House Committee on Natural Resources escalated its investigation into Interior Secretary Deb Haaland’s alleged misconduct and lack of impartiality. The committee sent a letter to a New Mexico-based environmental group raising concerns about their actions and Secretary Haaland’s potential misuse of her position to benefit them. This latest effort by the committee follows last week’s letter sent to Haaland’s office seeking additional documents. “We’re grateful to the members of the Natural Resources Committee and Chairman Bruce Westerman for seeking answers, especially as Deb Haaland hopes this problem simply goes away,” said Larry Behrens, Communications Director for Power The Future. “Secretary Haaland will shout…

House Committee Investigating Deb Haaland’s Involvement with New Mexico Environmental Group

October 24, 2023

The House Committee on Natural Resources continues investigating U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) Secretary Deb Haaland. The committee further examines her alleged conflict of interests between Secretary Haaland and her ties to the New Mexico-based Pueblo Action Alliance. In a letter sent to Secretary Haaland and Heather Gottry, the Director and Designate Agency Ethics office Committee Chair Bruce Westerman (R-Ark) said, “The Committee feels there is evidence that Secretary Haaland may not have acted impartially and did not avoid the appearance of a loss of impartiality in the performance of her duties. More alarmingly, there is evidence that Secretary Haaland misused…

New Mexico Environment Department is Raising Gas Prices

October 4, 2023

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s (D-NM) Environment Department recently announced they are cracking down on the state’s energy industry. Lujan Grisham’s Environment Secretary even bragged how they had already imposed “record fines” on New Mexico’s energy workers.  The announcement states, “Despite record fines levied and collected against the oil and natural gas industry – many operators are not taking compliance with federal and state air quality rules and permits seriously,” said Environment Department Cabinet Secretary James Kenney. “From July 2022 through July 2023, the Environment Department found a dismal 50.0% compliance rate for air quality requirements.” This comes at a time when families…

New Mexico Gun Ban: First Step In Their Perpetual Power Grab, Climate On Deck

September 12, 2023

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) has gotten herself in hot water. This past weekend she declared gun violence and drug abuse a public health emergency. This comes as many politicians are calling for a declaration of a climate emergency.  New Mexico Representative Melanie Stansbury (D-NM-01) called for a climate emergency to be declared soon after President Biden falsely claimed that he had already  “practically” declared a climate emergency.   “A temporary gun grab is just the first step toward a totalitarian left-wing takeover. Make no mistake, climate is the next domino to fall,” said Larry Behrens, Communications Director for Power The Future. “While…
