New Mexico Governor’s New Electric Fire Truck Relies on Diesel

Last week, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham proudly announced the purchase of a new $1.8 million electric fire truck. The problem is that this million-dollar firetruck is equipped with a diesel engine for times when the electric batteries run out. Conveniently, the fossil fuel engine was overlooked in the Governor’s press release celebrating the “zero emission” vehicle. The Center Square reports, “The New Mexico Environment Department provided Bernalillo County Fire & Rescue with $417,718 worth of taxpayer funding to help pay for $1,829,973 in project costs to replace a 1991 Engine Model Year diesel-fueled Class 8, Pierce Dash fire engine……
